Municipalities

Battery backup and energy management for municipal buildings

The municipality gets batteries and controls that keep nursing homes, water, wastewater and emergency premises running when the grid fails.

Critical public load cannot wait on diesel alone. Enfy delivers islanding, predictive reserve and cyber-secure control — with peak shaving as a secondary gain.

What comes first

  1. 1. Critical public load

Nursing homes, pumping stations, emergency premises and ICT cannot go dark. The plant runs locally, holds voltage and frequency, and starts load in the order you have set.

  2. 2. Ready before known risk

Predictive preparedness raises battery reserve before storms or planned outages. You are ready before the line drops — not after the duty officer has called.

  3. 3. Value in ordinary weeks too

Between incidents the system shaves peaks on schools, offices and sports halls, so the investment works every week, not only in a crisis.

Monitoring energy data in the field

Preparedness is more than a genset in the garage

Diesel covers long outages, but starts late and needs fuel and drills. A battery with islanding takes the first seconds and minutes, holds local quality, and can work with the genset you already have.

Many buildings, the same requirement

A municipality owns scattered load: health, water, schools, culture. One control layer can prioritise per building and still give administration a single overview — without every site becoming an orphan project.

Security that can stand alone

The installation can run offline, with a zero-trust-inspired architecture. That matters when preparedness also means the controls must not depend on the cloud or an open network.

Procurement without patchwork

Public buying fails at the seams. Enfy can stand as one party for design, battery, EMS and commissioning, with documentation that holds for audit and internal control.

What you get

  • Islanding for critical public load
  • Predictive reserve ahead of known risk
  • Coordination with existing gensets
  • Cyber-secure, offline-first control
  • Peak shaving across municipal buildings

Questions before choosing a system

How should procurement specify the requirement?
Describe critical loads, allowed interruption, runtime and testing and maintenance responsibilities. The battery’s kWh rating alone is not a functional requirement. Include access control and local operating procedures.
